The Laurentian Chamber of Commerce is the voice for business on Minnesota's eastern Mesabi Iron Range, serving the Quad Cities and surrounding communities. We support business development, retention, and expansion through advocacy, education, networking events, and strong community partnerships to help local businesses grow and the region thrive.

We're also proud to lead a Main Street program supporting downtown revitalization in Eveleth, Gilbert, Mountain Iron, and Virginia.

Summary
We're seeking a detail-oriented, people-loving multitasker to serve as our next Event & Marketing Coordinator. This is a highly visible role supporting both the daily operations of the Chamber office and the execution of member events, programs, membership, and communications. Key Responsibilities
Events & Programs
Plan and coordinate Chamber events, including logistics, promotion, set-up, and on-site execution.
Signature events: Golf Classic, Annual Dinner Gala, Funspiel, Women’s Leadership Summit, Leadership Laurentian, Ribbon Cuttings, and more.
Monthly events: Business Happy Hour (4th Wednesday), Breakfast Connections (2nd Wednesday).
Coordinate venues, catering, volunteers, permits, and budgets; follow event checklists (creating one if none exists).
Manage sponsorships, donations, and raffles, including submitting gambling permits and tracking raffle donation records.
Track sponsorships, registrations, and event finances; cash management for bookkeeper deposit; complete post-event reporting.
Set up meetings for event planning committees (Iron Range Job Fair, Women’s Leadership Summit, Golf Classic, Annual Gala, Curling): prepare agendas, attend meetings, and distribute minutes promptly.
Office Administration & Member Support
Serve as first point of contact for member and public inquiries by phone, email, and walk-in.
Open and process daily mail; route invoices to the bookkeeper and enter checks into ChamberMaster.
Manage the Chamber email inbox using organized folders for events, committees, and marketing correspondence.
Maintain Chamber materials, brochures, and a tidy, professional office environment.
Provide administrative support to the President/CEO and Board of Directors, including scheduling and correspondence.
Order office supplies and coordinate with vendors for printing, paper, and office needs.
Perform routine backups, software updates, and minor tech troubleshooting.
Membership & Committees
Maintain and update the ChamberMaster membership database, including new sign-ups and renewals.
Create and send monthly membership invoices and statements for outstanding balances.
Assemble and distribute new member packets and window clings; maintain the new member tracker.
Announce new and renewing members via social media, blog posts, the newsletter, and local newspapers.
Serve as staff liaison for the Ambassadors program: schedule meetings, prepare and distribute packets (agenda, minutes, new member tracker), and notify Ambassadors of events and ribbon cuttings.
Support Board of Directors meetings: invitations, prepare and distribute board packets (agenda, minutes, financials), attend meetings, and maintain records.
Provide general support to Chamber committees, including Business Development, Legislative Affairs, United for Housing, Laurentian Mainstreets, and Leadership Laurentian.
Marketing, Communications & Social Media
Create promotional content (flyers, social graphics, digital ads) in Canva – quality graphic design skills required.
Manage and update Chamber website content and the online event calendar.
Send the weekly e-newsletter and member-requested e-blasts via Constant Contact.
Maintain Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, and LinkedIn accounts, including responding to messages and comments.
Submit recurring ads and coordinate blog posts and monthly updates for local publications (Mesabi Tribune, Hometown Focus).
Other Duties
Schedule and manage conference room reservations; coordinate Zoom meetings and polls.
Schedule and coordinate ribbon cuttings.
Maintain general office appearance.
Other duties as assigned in support of the Chamber's mission.
Qualifications
Previous experience in event planning, office coordination, or administrative support.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Highly organized, proactive, and flexible, with strong attention to detail.
Proficient in Google Workspace, Canva, and basic Adobe products; experience with ChamberMaster, Constant Contact, and TeamReach a plus.
Comfortable with recordkeeping, such as logging invoices and payments.
Comfortable using social media, digital platforms, and email marketing tools with the ability to quickly pick up new platforms and programs is a must.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Willingness to work occasional early mornings and evenings for events.
Major events may require extended hours and heightened coordination.
