About Us

Pohaki Lumber’s name came from the first two letters of the three owners who founded Pohaki Lumber. Steve Pogorelce, Newton Hahne and Clarence Kintner purchased a yard that was built in 1896 as a retail store for a local sawmill and was known as W.T. Bailey Lumber Company. It continues to be a family run operation going into the third generation. Al & Mary (Steve’s daughter) Williams purchased it from Steve Pogorelce in 1988 and Brandon & Heather (Al & Mary’s daughter) Seppala purchased it in 2008.

Developing and maintaining a strong customer base of homeowners, contractors and industrial accounts has been a key to Pohaki’s success and longevity. They are able to do this by providing a high level of personal customer service, the latest product knowledge
and high quality products. They will work with you from the concept to the completion on all project sizes.

Product quality is very important to Pohaki Lumber. They work closely with their suppliers to buy building materials from mills that produce a better stick of wood. That quality continues on to other products manufactured locally including: Dura Supreme Cabinets, Cambria, Marvin Windows, & Andersen Windows.
Pohaki Lumber also has strong community ties and is committed to giving back. They do this through sponsorships of community events, donations to local sports programs, and also through volunteering time to various community organizations and events.

Stop by and get your next project started with your local building experts at Pohaki Lumber and don’t forget to congratulate them on 60 years!
